MEASUREMENTS
We conducted targeted stationary and mobile measurements in the Eagle Ford Shale to evaluate emissions from flaring, which were then included as inputs to the model, and to provide a comprehensive dataset for model evaluation. The Figure below shows our stationary trailer set-up in Karnes City, TX, and the mobile van while parked at the stationary site.
University owned mobile van deployed to take mobile measurements.
The mobile van was also deployed to take mobile measurements. Figure below highlights selected results from mobile measurements conducted near and around Karnes City, Texas, focused on evaluated emissions from flaring. The figure clearly shows that concentrations of benzene, toluene and C8 aromatics (ethylbenzene and xylene) increased near UOGD sources.
Mobile van measurements were conducted near and around Karnes City, TX.
We also conducted measurements in the Permian Basin near the HEI-funded stationary monitoring conducted in Loving, NM. The measurements in the Permian provided insights on spatial variability of measurements in the region, the opportunity to co-locate with the stationary monitoring site and the opportunity to compare measurements in the EFS and the Permian. Figure below provides an overview of mobile measurements conducted in the Permian basin.
